MICHELE DECOTTIGNIES: Founder & Artistic Director, Stage left Productions
Michele has 25 years experience teaching evidence-based, anti-oppressive practice – the past 15 through Stage Left's extensive Theatre of the Oppressed work.
Michele's equity training practice is so potent that Stage Left was endorsed by Augusto Boal himself as Canada's Centre for the Theatre of the Oppressed, over 10 years ago now.
Since then, Michele has been invited all over the world to provide highly specialized training and mentorship to many disparate communities, from people with intellectual disabilities to our service providers; from street-involved youth to front line workers; from the Board of Governors of universities to curricula develop teams in medical training schools; from community to professional arts companies.
Michele has mastered anti-oppressive practice training to the point that she is now an advisor to, and trainer of, some of the most established practitioners in the world.
What especially sets Michele's equity training apart from others is that it advances bottom-up, earned knowledge, uses embodied/ experiential engagement modalities and equips agents of change to attend to inequities at individual, social and structural levels of influence and authority.
